Loren Makes Art

Born in Fremantle Western Australia, Loren is an Australian based artist and author who creates beautiful, whimsical and horror images as part of her therapy for PTSD. Loren has lived with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for over a decade and finds art and writing to be an effective tool in expressing and working through her disability.
Loren is a survivor of family violence and advocates for others who are often seen as voiceless and invisible within the community. Loren’s great strength comes from her faith in God and deep understanding of the Bible. She is passionate about helping others with disabilities reach beyond what they perceive to be their limitations.
Loren has mastered the technically difficult art medium of tattoo and is well known all over the world for her tattoo flash designs. Loren is also an accomplished portrait painter and illustrator.
Loren’s Bible plates are internationally adored and admired not just for aesthetically pleasing symmetry and design but also for the interwoven levels of symbolism and scriptural literacy they display.
Loren is also a passionate believer in natural childhood and organic learning. Loren herself received an alternative education attending The Foothills School in Guildford Western Australia. She has successfully home educated and provides creative resources for other home educators. Loren is now enjoying the fruits of her labour as a Grandmother and she considers her family to be the most important aspect of her life and her greatest achievement.
Loren is currently residing in the glorious Huon Valley region of Tasmania and her highly prized art works when made available for sale are cherished by Art collectors and Bible Scholars alike.
Loren is a shy and sometimes reclusive artist and exhibits locally at least once a year. As an avid gardener Loren’s work often show her love of being in a nature and raising gardens.
Some of Loren’s more emotive pieces can be difficult to view as the raw honesty of her struggles with her mental illness and the violence she was victim of are portrayed in a way that leaves no easy escape for the viewer.
We hope you enjoy the work of this amazing Australian artist. Having dabbled in cartoons, murals, doll making and sculpture we are sure you will find something amongst Loren’s diverse body of work that speaks to you.
